Fighting Foreclosures in Florida - Attorney James Bonfiglio, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was interviewed on the TODAY SHOW.  He, along with 49 other attorneys in Florida donated a day to review mortgages and file suits to fight the foreclosures.  Call his office @561-734-4503 for more information.  My understanding is that the attorneys are reviewing the Federal Truth In Lending Act paperwork of the mortgages, among other issues.  According to the TODAY SHOW, some homeowners are saving their homes - or being awarded the homes free of debt!

1. TALK to your bank/mortgage company.  DO NOT AVOID THEM.  They cannot help you unless you have open communication.  Ask for the Loan Modification Department or the Mitigation Department.  Try to modify your loan - lower the mortgage and payments. 
2. If mitigation or modification is not working, you can try to do a Short Sale.  This is explained on the Information Page of this website.  Basically, the bank/mortgage company agrees to accept offers of less than your mortgage pay-off.
3.  Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure - everything else has failed.  To avoid a Foreclosure, you agree to deed the property back to the bank/mortgage company.  Understand that you will still have to surrender your home/property, but hopefully cut out some of the stress.  And remember what a friend told me, you've lost something made of brick, wood and glass - not a loved one.  You are not alone.  You are NOT a failure.  You will survive!
